Doodles are poodle mixes with different needs

Doodles is a collective name for dogs where a poodle has been crossed with another breed.

Common examples include:

  • Labradoodle
  • Goldendoodle
  • Cockapoo
  • Cavapoo
  • Maltipoo
  • Bernedoodle
  • Aussiedoodle
  • Schnoodle

Because doodles are mixed breeds, they can vary greatly in size, coat, energy, appetite, and sensitivity.

A Labradoodle or Goldendoodle can be large and active.
A Cockapoo, Cavapoo, or Maltipoo can be smaller but still energetic, have an intensive coat, and sometimes be sensitive in the stomach.

Therefore, it's smart to choose a food that supports multiple parts of the body, not just one thing.

Many doodles need food that is gentle on the stomach

Many owners of Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Cockapoos, and other poodle mixes find that their dogs can have sensitive stomachs.

This can manifest as:

  • Loose stools
  • Inconsistent stool quality
  • Gassy stomach
  • Sensitivity to food changes
  • Difficulty finding a food that works long-term
  • Dogs that fluctuate between good and bad stomach health

This doesn't mean all doodles have sensitive stomachs. But it is a common reason why many owners look for a more carefully formulated food.

That's why Dogfather contains both probiotics and prebiotics, to support gut flora, digestion, and nutrient absorption.

Pro- and prebiotics for stomach and intestinal flora

Dogfather contains both probiotics and prebiotics.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help support a balanced gut flora.

Prebiotics, such as FOS and MOS, act as nourishment for the beneficial bacteria in the gut.

Together, they can support:

  • Digestion
  • Gut flora
  • Stool quality
  • Nutrient absorption
  • Immune system
  • A more stable daily life

For a doodle with a sensitive stomach, this is one of the most important components in the food.

Pro- and prebiotics – support for stomach, gut flora, and nutrient absorption.

Doodles often have coats that require extra care

One of the things that makes many doodles so popular is their coat. It can be curly, wavy, soft, dense, and very individual.

But a coat that requires a lot of care also needs the right nutrition from within.

Skin and coat are affected by several things, including:

  • Fat quality in the food
  • Omega-3 and omega-6
  • Protein
  • Gut health and nutrient absorption
  • Food sensitivities
  • General health and balance

Therefore, good food for doodles is not just food that the dog likes. It should also support the skin and coat over time.

Omega-3 and omega-6 for skin and coat

Dogfather contains omega-3 and omega-6, two important fatty acids for your dog's skin and coat.

Omega-3 is particularly important for skin balance, coat quality, and the body's normal inflammatory response.

Omega-6 contributes to normal skin function and a healthy, strong coat.

For doodles, where coat care is often a big part of daily life, this is especially relevant.

Omega-3 and omega-6 support:

  • Normal skin function
  • Coat quality
  • Shine and texture
  • Body balance
  • Overall joint health

Omega-3 + omega-6 – support for skin, coat, joints, and body balance.

High animal protein for energy, muscles and coat

Doodles are often active, happy, and social dogs. Many love training, walks, play, and spending time with their family.

Dogfather is made with high animal protein and meat as the first ingredient.

Protein is important for:

  • Muscle mass
  • Energy
  • Recovery
  • Satiety
  • Skin and coat
  • Body control

For an active doodle, protein is an important part of a stable daily routine. It helps the body stay strong, while also providing important building blocks for the skin and coat.

High animal protein – for energy, muscles, skin, and coat.

What's the best food for a doodle?

Since doodles can vary greatly, you need to choose food based on your specific dog.

Some doodles do best on a gentle recipe. Others thrive on grain-free. Some need extra focus on their stomach, others on skin, coat, weight, or joints.

Dogfather has two complete main recipes:

Lamb & Rice
A gentle recipe with lamb and rice as the only grain. A good choice for many dogs where you want a stable and mild base.

Chicken & Duck
A grain-free recipe with chicken and duck. A good choice for dogs where you want to avoid grains and have a protein-rich food with lots of flavor.

Both recipes contain Dogfather's functional whole with pro- and prebiotics, omega-3 and omega-6, glucosamine, L-carnitine, and taurine.

Larger doodles also need joint support

Not all doodles are small. Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, and Bernedoodles can be large, active dogs with a lot of body to carry.

For larger doodles, joints and weight balance become extra important.

When the dog is larger, hips, elbows, knees, and back are more stressed in everyday life. It's then smart to choose a food that not only supports the stomach and coat, but also joints and muscles.

Dogfather contains:

Glucosamine 1000 mg/kg

Glucosamine is a natural building block in cartilage and joint fluid and is often used in food and supplements focusing on joints and mobility.

Glucosamine 1000 mg/kg – nutritional support for joints, cartilage, and mobility.

L-Carnitine for Energy and Weight Balance

Doodles can be anything from small companion dogs to large, active family dogs. Regardless of their size, they thrive best when maintaining a stable body weight.

Extra weight can affect energy, mobility, and joints.

Dogfather contains:

L-carnitine 100 mg/kg

L-carnitine helps the body use fat for energy and is relevant in a feed where energy metabolism, body control, and muscle preservation are important components.

It's not about making the dog thin. It's about helping the body stay strong, active, and in good shape.

L-carnitine 100 mg/kg – support for energy metabolism, fat conversion, and weight balance.

Taurine 1500 mg/kg for heart function

A complete food should support the whole dog, not just the stomach and coat.

Dogfather contains:

Taurine 1500 mg/kg

Taurine is an amino acid that plays an important role in the normal function of the heart.

For us, it is an obvious part of a feed that should serve as a strong everyday base for many different dogs, from small Cockapoos to larger Labradoodles and Goldendoodles.

Quick highlight:
Taurine 1500 mg/kg – support for normal heart function.

That's why Dogfather is particularly well-suited for doodles

Doodles and poodle mixes may vary in size, coat, and energy, but many owners are looking for the same thing:

A feed that works in everyday life.

A feed that supports the stomach.
A feed that helps skin and coat.
A feed with good protein.
A feed that feels complete.

Dogfather contains:

How much should a doodle eat?

Since doodles can vary greatly in size, there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

A small Cockapoo or Cavapoo naturally needs less food than a large Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, or Bernedoodle.

Always follow the feeding guide on the packaging, but adjust according to:

  • Weight
  • Age
  • Activity level
  • Body condition
  • Neutering status
  • Size
  • Coat and skin
  • Stomach and stool
  • How many treats and chews the dog receives in addition

The most important thing is how the dog thrives over time. Energy, stool, coat, body condition, and appetite say a lot about whether the food is suitable.

Weigh the food in grams initially. This makes it much easier to adjust the amount if the dog gains or loses weight.

Change food gradually if the stomach is sensitive

If your doodle has a sensitive stomach, it's especially important to switch food slowly.

A too rapid change can cause loose stools even if the new food is actually suitable.

Recommended transition:
Day 1–2: 25% Dogfather + 75% current food
Day 3–4: 50% Dogfather + 50% current food
Day 5–6: 75% Dogfather + 25% current food
Day 7+: 100% Dogfather

For extra sensitive dogs, the transition can preferably be done over 10–14 days.

Quick tip:
Monitor your dog's stool during the transition. If their stomach reacts, go back a step and let their body adjust more slowly.

Grooming doesn't just start with the brush

Doodles often have coats that require a lot of maintenance. Regular brushing, bathing, and trimming are important, but the coat is also affected by what the dog eats.

A feed with good protein, the right fatty acids, and support for nutrient absorption can help the body give the skin and coat better conditions.

Dogfather supports the coat from several angles:

  • High animal protein
  • Omega-3
  • Omega-6
  • Pro- and prebiotics for nutrient absorption
  • Complete vitamin and mineral profile

For a doodle with a demanding coat, the overall picture is important.

Developed by dog people

Dogfather was developed by dog people with extensive experience from Changdobels, one of Sweden's largest players in dog daycare and boarding kennels.

We meet dogs every day. Small dogs, large dogs, active dogs, sensitive dogs, picky dogs, and dogs with coats that require extra care.

This experience has shaped how we think about food.

We wanted to create a food with everything we ourselves believe a really good dog food should contain, directly in the recipe.

Not as something you need to buy separately.
But as part of the dog's daily staple.
